Note: The statistics above cover all sectors under the responsibility of MIT. Some figures are missing because the information on the origin of the inspected products were not kept by some inspectors.

Number of Complaints:

In 2005, the number of complaints for motor vehicles was 13, for lifts it was 3.

In 2006, the number of complaints for lifts was 17. Additionally the number of complaints received in electronic form is 21 since October 2006.

Fines:

In 2005, 70.992 YTL fine was imposed for non-conforming products (LVD-EMC), 110.000 YTL for non-conforming motor vehicles.

In 2006, 8.000YTL fine was imposed for non-conforming lifts.

Remarks:

When we compare the above figures, we can see that the total number of inspected products increased drastically from 2004 to 2006, whereas the number of non-conformities decreased from 2004 to 2006. This shows that the manufacturers became more aware of their responsibilities.

Product Safety Complaint System:

In the Framework of the Market Surveillance Action Plan, MIT has started a new Product Safety Complaint System through a new interface on the ministry’s web page, starting in October 2006. Although not yet announced the complaint system had resulted in 16 complaints in November 2006. The complaints are evaluated by the contact person from DG for EU Coordination and sent to the other related DGs: DG for Industry, DG for Measurement and Standards and DG for Protection of Consumer and Competition. The system will help indicating products for market surveillance activities.

7.15    Annex 15: TSE Calibration

TSE has become more competitive, free to set its prices, and this has resulted in more calibrations.

In conclusion, TSE calibration activities seem to be developing in a very satisfactory manner.

7.16    Annex 16: TSE progress towards becoming a Notified Body

TSE has a broad competence and its progress towards being a NB can be illustrated like this:

TSE’s progress towards a Notified Body, NB

Step A = Directives within the competence of TSE

Step B = Directives for which TSE has addressed its interest to the ministries

Step C = Directives for which TSE’s application has been forwarded to CEC by DTM

Step D = Directives for which CEC has accepted the TSE application, but not confirmed

Step E = Directives for which CEC has accepted TSE as a NB
